Olympic anticipation

There's been media coverage building for the last few years about the 2012 Olympics, but registering for a chance to get tickets has suddenly made it feel a lot more real and like it's happening to the city I live in. I went to Athens a week or so before they hosted the games and the atmosphere was incredible, full of anticipation and excitement. Despite the (awful) logo and escalating financial costs I still think the Olympics will be great for London and the UK. Much like the Royal Wedding next month, I think these events are both undeniably good things. They'll put the UK at the centre of the world stage, give the media something positive to cover and hopefully make all British citizens feel proud of where they come from. Both are part of a long tradition and heritage which it's about time we celebrated. That is of course if they manage to finish all the building work for the Olympics on time...
