I am addicted to writing lists. There, I said it. Sometimes I even wake up in the night and have to scribble something on a scrap of paper before I can go back to sleep. It's not just the satisfaction I get from crossing something off, although on occasion I have written things like 'write list' just so I could cross it off, bliss! It's that without my lists, I'm not sure I'd ever manage to get anything done.
It's especially hard in the office, I'll be working on something when an urgent email will pop up, or the phone will ring and I'll end up starting something else so that by the end of the day I'll have ten half finished tasks (and nothing crossed off my list). It's just as bad at home too, I'll sit down to write a chapter and then have a bright idea for a short story half way through, or maybe realise that my plants need watering or I can't go on without a cup of tea. Actually maybe that's more about procrastination and the grass always being slightly greener than anything else... So recently I have been attempting to make my lists more realistic in length to begin with and then trying to just do one thing at a time until it's complete and I can move onto something else. It's a revolutionary concept non?
Ps. Sorry for the infrequent blogging recently, most of my spare time is going on writing at the moment but I am now 6 chapters away from the end of my first draft! Woohoo!
