house hunting

House hunting is always a bit of a gamble. Will you find the the property you want in the area you want for a price you can afford? And if you do, will it be free to move into when you need to move? Then there are other complications to factor in, forking out for a new deposit before you get your current deposit back, hoping the new landlord/agency are reasonable. But before all of that comes the part where you start looking for flats and scouring right move, gumtree and agency websites. It's become obvious that it's essential to read between their descriptions; 'spacious' can simply mean, 'bigger than a shoe box' and 'extremely central location' can translate into 'noisy, busy main road'. Then there are the photos taken with a fish eye lense to make the rooms seem bigger which surely is the equivalent of telling outright lies? You can get a good feel for a property by walking around it, but it's hard to tell what it's actually going to be like to live in it. Is the shower any good, will it be freezing cold in winter?

We're looking for a furnished or at least part furnished flat as I currently only own a beanbag and a broken sent of shelves... We've only looked at three flats so far as we don't need to move until early September, but they've all been very different. There's always such a variety of properties available for your money - it's started to bring out my competitive side. It turns out I also get extremely over excited about flat hunting and my boyfriend keeps having to try and reign me in!

I can't imagine what it must be like house-hunting in London, I can imagine there must be some really interesting properties to check out. Good Luck!
