new years eve

I just wanted to wish everyone a very happy new year! I just need to sort out my fancy dress costume for this evening and I'm good to go. Bring it on! I've got a good feeling about 2012...

sales

I like the idea of sales shopping. Discounts and bargains - what's not to like? But the reality of heaving London streets, packed tubes, queues for changing rooms and the actual experience of rooting through sales racks, fills me with horror. Especially as I've only just recovered from Christmas shopping. I was talking about this with a friend of mine who popped over for a cuppa earlier. She told me she's done all her sales shopping online this year and I'm starting to think it's the way forward. You can pick and choose from the comfort of your own home, browse multiple sites at once and even take a tea break mid shopping spree to consider your options carefully. My only problem with online shopping is that I like to try clothes on, to feel the fabric and see how they hang but this too can be avoided if you know what size you are in a specific store. So to cheer myself up for being home alone on a Friday night, I decided to buy a pair of black ankle boots online in the sale from Kurt Geiger. They will be delivered next week and do you know what?I feel better about sale shopping already.

a running joke

There is a running joke at work that I keep getting sick before the best night's out. Maybe it's the over excitement? Maybe I just work extra hard trying to get everything done before said night out? Regardless, it's still very frustrating to be at home feeling ill when all your friends are having fun. Of course this doesn't actually happen very often, but when it does, it kinda sucks! Last weekend my boyfriend very kindly gave me the bug he had, just in time for me to miss a couple of big get togethers with some uni friends that I'd been looking forward to for ages. He is now back to work and fit as a fiddle but for some reason I'm struggling to shake it off. So instead of moping about missing my parties, I'm now just keeping my fingers crossed I'll be better for Christmas.

tis the season to go shopping

Like lots of people, I always get to December with one or two odd holiday days to use up. Instead of letting them go to waste, this year I've opted for a couple of long weekends to ease myself into the holiday spirit. It seemed like a great idea to go to Oxford street bright and early this morning. 'There's so many shops there, I can do all my Christmas shopping in one go' I thought to myself. Well yes, there are lots of shops there but even at 10am on a Friday morning there were also a lot of people. Other than more sale signs than you'd normally expect to see before the 25th, it didn't look much like we're heading into another recession let me tell you. By 2pm it was heaving, my arms were aching from my shopping bags and I desperately needed to sit down and have a cup of tea. (That was when I cracked and got the tube home.) Where did all the people come from though? Why were so many of them not working and here's my final question, how do I get that lifestyle?
